Elegance in Equilibrium is a staged self-portrait exploring the performative nature of femininity and the invisible weight of social expectation. A woman in Victorian dress stands composed and unsmiling, balancing a tower of porcelain teacups on her hat - fragile, ornamental, and absurdly precarious.
The teacup is a symbol of domesticity, refinement, and the rituals women are expected to uphold with grace. Here, that grace has become architecture - elaborate, excessive, and entirely self-constructed. The figure holds her posture with quiet defiance: not collapsing under the weight, but not pretending it is light either.
The image draws on painterly portraiture and surrealist humor to ask what it means to carry beauty as a burden - and to do so with perfect composure.
