"Acerca de la niña", "About the girl", is a self-referential series of photographs related to my personal history, and to those significants which formed me as a woman. Identity and body are approached from self portraits and family objects photos.
At the beginning of the 2001, a pivotal year por argentinian people due to the profound economical and social crisis, I start to explore with my 35 mm camera my quotidian environment and to build my own image trough self-portraits.
Years later, with a 6 x 6 medium format camera, I reworked them to form this series of color slide photographs where body and familiar objects are observed by the lens, and are observers as well.
A feminine 80´s dress, a plate that belonged to my grandmother, a large piece of textil made by my mom with her own hands, a small purse to save money, and other garments that give me a special way of seeing my personal history.
Those are my "signs", my topics to understand, and to stand, too.
