In this performance, the artists freezes a dear memory and documents it while it melts.
From the series "EMDR", EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING this is part of the visual representation called "Frozen Memory".
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy in which the person being treated is asked to recall distressing images while generating one type of bilateral sensory input, such as side-to-side eye movements or hand tapping. This film aims to represent what happens in your mind during this practice. It’s a study of trauma and its consequences on behaviour and memory. The project aims to reproduce the 8 phases of the therapy’s protocol of the therapy in a visual form, through images, moving images and sounds frequencies related to emotions. The project focus on the theme of memory, trauma and the possibility of manipulate our insight in order to change our moods, feelings, emotions around traumatic memories and grief. The aim is to promote the exploration of EMDR, supporting various researches scientific who affirm the efficacy of this therapy in the treatment of psychological problems, such as phobias, dyspareunia, depression, anxiety and eating disorder. This performance is an allegory of a memory frozen in time, the artists fights against this concept watching the memory melting away, the performance ends with the object of the memory washed away, almost melted but present in a different form.
