Venice (Los Angeles), 20 August 2012. An empty beach and a solitary structure, a lifeguard tower, that seems to float above the sand. The architectural element is in the open space a refuge and an observation point. I have tried to accentuate the feeling of empty space, eliminating details and complex elements that could have been distracting, with the intention of creating an ideal place for contemplation. With this painting, I would like to convey a feeling of stillness and introspection, exploring the theme of solitude and inner quest.
The work is part of an artistic research path in which I combine memory, digital technology and painting. After a series of photographic shots, I reconstruct the image using 3D modelling software, associating it with a personal memory of mine. This process allows me to explore and re-elaborate the image, simplifying the details to extract the visual essence of the moment and create a synthetic and balanced composition. I transport this reinterpreted vision into canvas, thus merging the initial memory with digital processing. My intention is to transform these memories into shared visual experiences. By combining digital and traditional techniques, I explore how memory can be reinterpreted and relived, offering unusual perspectives.
