The artwork presented is a visual interpretation of my reflection on the multifaceted topic: the impact of technological advancements on human consciousness and our perception of reality.
In the 21st century, the dynamics of our social life are being reshaped by what are termed "optico-political technologies". These technologies, deeply embedded in our daily routines, seep into and inevitably alter our worldview, creating a new lens through which we understand our reality. As our collective abilities to visualize, share, and communicate expand due to these innovations, they reshape how we perceive the world, interpret events, and find meaning in our existence. Beyond mere tools, they are biotechnologies: intricate devices, mechanisms, and technical processes that serve not just as interfaces, but also as powerful mediators of the tele-visual power that organizes and dictates the narrative of the world around us.
These technological advancements have ushered in a wave of mediation, where our raw experiences are often filtered, processed, and sometimes distorted. This heightened mediation has profound implications, affecting not only our personal perceptions but also our collective consciousness. The digital age has blurred the lines between individual experiences and collective narratives, leading to shifts in societal norms and values. These elements, stemming from our engagement with technology, characterize the post-modern perception of both ourselves and the external world.
Given such a scenario, one must ponder: What are the ramifications of these interfaces on the way we perceive our identities, the social constructs we inhabit, and the modalities of our interactions? Our decisions, beliefs, and actions are influenced more than ever by these technological intermediaries. How does this mediated landscape redefine the social and political existence of individuals? And in a world where our senses are constantly interfaced with unseen tools that can amplify, diminish, or even alter our experience, how does this shape the very fabric of our socio-political realities?
