Turandot — Tribute to Monica Bellucci and Thierry Mugler is part of the Silent Icons series, which reinterprets the visual grammar of Western sacred iconography through contemporary cultural figures from fashion, cinema, and opera. The title references Puccini's opera Turandot — the ice princess who discovers love — and finds its contemporary incarnation in Monica Bellucci, portrayed wearing one of Thierry Mugler's most iconic creations: a golden armor corset. Like the operatic Turandot, the figure commands the space with cold, regal power, yet the silver leaf ground suggests the possibility of transformation, of warmth beneath the armor.
