The figure’s gaze is direct but ambiguous. It seems aware of being observed while also observing us back. That creates the uncertainty, are we witnessing her world, or has she become witness to ours?
The title ‘Triada’ derived from trias(meaning ‘three’) evokes the idea of a triad often associated with the holy trinity, as the three white lelies in the painting could remind us of past/present and future or the three stages of womanhood, the girl, the doll and mother reflecting the universe it self. The flowers on the dress are not merely decorative fabric, they become extensions of the figure’s inner world, thus becoming alive. Like also that little vivid red handbag, which feels like a keeper of the sacred by holding the memories and thoughts inside.
