Orchid, wine glass, candle, cake stand, knife on a dining table. Drawing inspiration from the Pronk Still Life genre of Dutch Golden Age, my current series of works serve as contemporary reinterpretations to retell these narratives from a feminist perspective. Through symbolism, I use flowers as metaphor of beauty, delicacy, lust, and desire. In my painting process I borrow various elements, from Old Masters of Still Life, to contemporary literature. I tend to arrange found objects and flowers in my studio and paint them from real-life observation.
