Il frutto del melograno è - per eccellenza - il frutto simbolo della ciclicità per gli antichi greci, e della solidarietà. L’aspetto particolare di questo suggerisce un complesso apparato simbolico: i piccoli semi all'interno racchiusi in un robusto involucro circolare, sono effettivamente indipendenti l’uno dall’altro ma, al tempo stesso stretti vicini dalla stessa conformazione e struttura, costituendo un insieme collegato. La lettura simbolica e la forma stessa di questo frutto rappresentano dunque, i concetti di reciproca molteplice collaborazione e unità. Inoltre il melograno si collega al tema della “rinascita” da una rottura dolorosa o drastica. Infatti il melograno non è intatto; è stato spaccato. Questa frattura simboleggia l'emergere qualcosa di nuovo.

The pomegranate is—par excellence—the fruit that symbolized cyclicality for the ancient Greeks, as well as solidarity. Its distinctive appearance suggests a complex symbolic system: the small seeds inside, enclosed in a sturdy circular shell, are effectively independent of one another but, at the same time, closely bound together by their shared shape and structure, forming a connected whole. The symbolic interpretation and the very shape of this fruit thus represent the concepts of mutual, multifaceted collaboration and unity. Furthermore, the pomegranate is linked to the theme of “rebirth” following a painful or drastic rupture. In fact, the pomegranate is not intact; it has been split open. This fracture symbolizes the emergence of something new.
