This work, as the title suggests, represents the contrast between winter and summer through the juxtaposition of tones that, although opposite, find an almost static balance—a kind of compromise-through a composition in which the various elements act as counterweights.
The photograph from which the work is derived was taken outside a factory; at first, it was the play of light and shadow that caught my attention-the "warm" August sunlight hitting the "cold" oxidized metal.
