"Sans AI, sans Magritte, sans les mains." is the title of the series "Anthologie des violences sourdes" (2024–2026). This research is born from an observation: everything burns. The streets, the forests, the world seem to be in flames. Fire here becomes the element of a radicalism to which Julien Fezil adheres and which he aims for. Back to the age of fire!
The work offers an immediate reading, accessible to all audiences, while revealing a more complex level of interpretation: that of flames that destroy what could still hide or silence the repressed, internalized, invisible violence, whether social, political or intimate.
A disturbing scene arises: patterns and abstract shots merge into sets that seem to flare up. An anonymous figure whose face, almost erased, is hidden by a very visible hand, emerges from the background.
For this work, Julien Fezil looked for the glitch in the AI (this discomfort caused by the tool that borders on error, even though it is theoretically supposed to execute the action perfectly), which he then used as material to paint elements of the work (the irrational disappearance of the head in favor of an inordinately serpentine braid).
Here, the fire is not only catastrophic: it becomes force of unveiling. By consuming appearances, he reveals what was already burning in silence. After the destruction, something else becomes possible: a new landscape, still glowing... flamboyant.
