In Renacer (Rebirth), I draw on themes rooted in European Baroque painting, where life and death often coexist.
The work reflects the dramatic interplay of light and shadow that moves me in artists like Caravaggio, where figures emerge from darkness in moments of transformation and revelation.
Within this surreal and expressive environment, I allowed hints of a human figure to appear, including an almost submerged, inert body beneath the water.
From the background, I brought forth an intense light that symbolizes rebirth, hope, and renewal. I used warm, earthy tones to convey a grounded vitality, while the interplay of light, form, and shadow allows me to evoke emotional intensity and the timeless cycle of life.
I painted this piece with free, expressive brushwork and, in part, directly with my hands, blending abstraction and figurative suggestion.
With this painting, my wish is to invite reflection on the delicate balance between fragility, stillness, and emergence, bridging historical influence with my own contemporary expression.
Renacer (Rebirth) is a part of my Lumina series, further exploring how light acts not just as a visual element, but as the very source of form, atmosphere and transfiguration. .
