FUGA evokes the intensity of Baroque art, where tension and movement emerge from the interplay of light and matter. The composition is built around a field of sinuous forms, interrupted by an opening — a deep, silent passage of light that introduces a moment of release and transition.
The title refers both to this “escape” (fuga in Spanish and Italian) and to the musical form of the fugue, where a theme emerges, repeats, transforms, and intertwines across multiple voices. This structure reflects the spirit of the painting and the emotion that Baroque music and painting evoke in me.
The work is executed with free, expressive brushwork and, in part, directly with the hands, blending abstraction and figurative suggestion, aiming to convey the intensity, flow, and energy of these artistic experiences.
