Rain Series II

The ‘Rain Series’ expresses the emotions felt when it rains through flat paintings.

Rain brings different emotions regardless of time and place, and these moments accumulate to become memories. This work visualizes such emotions and memories using traditional Korean materials: mother-of-pearl and lacquer.

Natural lacquer is completed by layering multiple coats, containing the accumulation of time. Mother-of-pearl shows different expressions depending on light, reflecting changing emotions.

Through the slow and repetitive making process, it expresses the sense of time spent with rain.
