“Piece of heArt” series
We use Heart in a metaphorical way to describe our feelings: “listen to you heart”, “eat your heart out”, “have a heart”...
A heart could be stolen, broken or followed. We “heart” something that we like on social media. It is probably the most objectified organ of the human body, yet the heart is real, we all have one.
The true shape of it is much more complex and exciting, than it’s symbolic representation. As are our true feelings.
With this series of paintings I express my “state of heart” during various periods in life. The heart itself represents the subconscious side and feelings, whereas the colourful mosaic-like background represents the conscious side, an attempt to bring pieces together.

In this particular work I’ve expressed my feelings of being completely alone, separated from my fiancé for 3 months and eventually becoming my own universe during the lockdown in Italy.
