Portrait of the Neighborhood Donkey
The work depicts a donkey that used to roam the neighborhood and regularly reached the agricultural lands at the edge of the village. These lands were later declared closed military zones under Israeli military control during the Second Intifada and the early stages of the construction of the Israeli apartheid wall.
During the season when the Chinese orange tree bore fruit, the donkey, as usual, approached the tree, picked a fruit, and placed it in its mouth. At that moment, it was shot in the head by an Israeli sniper.
The portrait is drawn from memory and presented as a visual record of a specific incident during a period of territorial and political transformation.
