Old tree

Passing through Gangu County in my elder brother's truck, we sped swiftly ahead. I gazed out the window, facing the strong wind blowing in. Suddenly, an old tree came into view—lifeless and weathered with age. Perhaps to prevent it from collapsing abruptly and harming passersby, the old tree was propped up by several straight and sturdy logs. At this sight, it struck me how much our lives resemble this old tree. From birth to death, we endure all kinds of hardships, and in our old age, just like the old tree, we need support, eventually returning to the earth. An individual’s life is fraught with uncertainties in a rapidly changing society, and no matter the ups and downs one experiences in the currents of the times, in the end, we all return to this land, much like the old tree.
