Little Wave explores the delicate threshold between abstraction and figuration. At first glance, it captures the fleeting moment of a wave breaking, rendered with meticulous attention to the interplay of light, texture, and movement. The foam appears almost sculptural, frozen in a dynamic gesture that evokes both power and impermanence.
Upon closer inspection, the image begins to dissolve into abstract forms—ribbons of cream and blue that swirl and clash, echoing the expressive spontaneity of abstract painting. The work invites the viewer to oscillate between recognition and interpretation, offering a dual reading that mirrors the ever-changing nature of the sea itself.
In this piece, I sought to translate the raw energy of the ocean into a visual rhythm, where every brushstroke contributes to a living, breathing surface. The ambiguity is intentional: the wave is both real and symbolic, a fragment of nature and a meditation on motion, form, and transformation.
