Hortensias explores the persistent sense of being at risk that often accompanies the experience of being a woman.
The female figure appears exposed and defenceless, suspended in a space where beauty and threat become inseparable. Surrounding her, the hydrangeas—flowers traditionally associated with delicacy and harmony—are transformed by their unnatural blood-red colour into ambiguous presences, evoking an atmosphere of latent danger, suggesting that what appears familiar and reassuring can also conceal violence, fear, or silent oppression.
