Personal representation of two interesting characters for peruvian sociopolitics: the corrupt conservative mayor of Lima city giving an award to the former cardinal of Lima city (accused of - and sanctioned for - abusing children). The vulture behind them seems to be enveloping the two in a weird, menacing and incomplete stalking-like embrace (it is also the representative bird of the city of Lima: "gallinazo"). The composition forms a deformed cross; a pair of crucified legs (christ's legs from the Velazquez painting) complete the figure. Black and red chiaroscuro: I try to mix baroque form with political core, in order to come up with an ambiguous yet striking image; it is my way of informing against these two political figures.
