This is an ever-growing and ever-changing project about the passing of time.
Each 13x18,5 cm panel represents one page of my journal on a 1/1 scale. Following a methodical process, I analyze the content of each page and sort out my feelings, trying to remain as objective and detached as possible.
My moods tend to be quite extreme and can shift a lot throughout a given period of time, which I express through the use of black and white only. This process focusses on the conscious composition that lies behind this seemingly abstract work in which form and content complement each other.
The resulting artwork can be deconstructed and reassembled into endless variations of varying size and shape, so that its aesthetic becomes bound to the randomness of a specific combination. By applying abstraction to the ongoing stream of daily events, I relentlessly seek for order and purpose in the chaotic stream of life and try to develop a new language for self expression.
Over the past 10 years, I've filled about 40 journals that will all be transcribed for this project. It is meant to remain forever in progress and unfinished, growing and evolving with me as I keep on journaling.
