“Community 01” is part of an ongoing series that explores the idea of community as a living, interconnected structure. The work is composed of overlapping fragments, each bearing organic, vein-like traces that evoke roots, capillaries, or neural networks. These elements, while individually distinct, lose their autonomy as they merge into a shared visual system.
The composition is built through a process of layering and imprinting, where repetition becomes a fundamental gesture. Each mark is a trace of presence, and each fragment acts as a unit within a larger collective body. The surface appears both fragile and cohesive, suggesting the delicate balance between individuality and belonging.
The limited chromatic range—earthy reds and muted neutrals—recalls natural materials such as soil, clay, and oxidized matter. This palette reinforces the idea of a grounded, elemental community, rooted in time and transformation.
Rather than representing a specific place, “Community 01” functions as a metaphorical landscape. It reflects how human and natural systems are structured: through accumulation, connection, and continuous interaction. The work invites the viewer to consider community not as a fixed entity, but as an evolving network of relationships, where each trace contributes to a larger, shared existence.
