The collage COLOURFUL PERFORMANCE shows an abstract, figure-like form against a black background. The many layered geometric and organic elements, as well as pieces of furniture, are stacked on top of each other and interlock. Rectangles, curves and angular shapes create a compact, vertical structure. The impression of an artificially constructed figure consisting of different parts is created.
The intense colours play a central role in my collage. Bright reds, yellows, greens and blues contrast with neutral greys and beiges. These strong colour contrasts create energy and tension. The warm colour accents in particular appear active and lively, while the cooler and neutral tones have a stabilising effect. The black background isolates the form and makes it appear as if it were on a stage.
The overlapping and interlocking forms not only create spatial depth, but are also intended to be understood as a symbol of complexity.
My composition moves between order and chaos. On the one hand, it appears structured and deliberately constructed, while on the other hand, the multitude of elements creates a certain restlessness. This tension reinforces the impression of dynamism and ‘performance’ – as if the form were in a continuous process of change.
