"Aguas Vivas" is an abstract oil paintingin in which I explore the energy and vitality inherent in water, an element understood as living, ever-changing, and essential. This painting born of a reflection on water as a living, life-generating entity. The title refers both to that organic force and to the neirghborhood where I live, Aguas Vivas, a place far form the sea that nonetheless maintains a symbolic connection to it, and the place that shapes much of my artistic perspective.
In the painting, the sea appears as an evoked presence; it is a recurring element in my work that bridges lanscape, memory, and imagination; in this instance, through the language of abstraction.
Beyond its physical or lanscape-oriented nature, water is presented here as a force in constant transformation, capable of connecting memory, territory, and emotional experience. The title holds a dual meaning. On one hand, it alludes to the vitality inherent in water, its movements, flows, and natural cycles. Although this environment is landlocked, the symbolic presence of the sea plays a significant role in my creative imagination and recurs frequently in my work. On the other hand, as it has been explained before, is the name of the place where I live.
Through abstraction, the painting eschews literal representation to focus on sensations associated with water:depth, movement, change, and continuity. The forms, rhythms, and chromatic relationships seek to evoke an experience that is intuitive rather than descriptive, inviting the viewer to forget their own connections with this essential element.
The work thus reflects on the bonds between human beings and the environments they inhabit, whether visible or imaginated, and on art´s capacity to transform personal references into open, shared experiences.
