WORK LINE: 'A WOMAN WITH A HAT'
A woman is wearing a hat shaped like a nest, with three Easter eggs inside.
There are also two doves of peace depicted, modelled on Pablo Picasso’s doves of peace.
Today, we yearn for peace—both personal and international. The era of international conflict has been a long one, and we long to feel the hope that peace will accompany our steps and our days as a fundamental human value.
I have sought to depict a face of classical beauty to symbolise the importance of peace throughout human history.
It is very important that we do not lose sight of the poetry in everyday life and that, above all, we nurture the best in ourselves.
In this body of work, the paintings may take the form of diptychs, and to this end the background colours are rendered in pairs.
“A WOMAN WITH A HAT – PEACE – PACE – PAZ – PAIX” is chromatically linked to “A WOMAN WITH A HAT – DESIRE – DESIDERIO – DESEO – DÉSIR”.
The directions indicated by the two faces depicted are opposite.
It is a play on simplicity and the essential desires of human beings, combined either separately or in pairs. If the paintings are viewed in pairs, the dimensions would be 100x200cm.
The second photo is a preliminary sketch of the final artwork.
