The works are guided by Katharinas interest in the phenomenon of thresholds and her curiosity about the realm of the ‘inbetween’.
In her artistic practice as a CROSSING process, she creates paintings as instruments to navigate the challenging borderline situations of our time without panic.
The theme of crossing thresholds is present in this work in terms of both form and method, as well as content. The material is silk dipped in beeswax, reflecting the quality of the human skin as a threshold between humans and different levels of existence.
