Katharina Lökenhoff is a multidisciplinary artist born in Essen, Germany. She studied Arts, Philosophy and Pedagogy. Her works with a particular focus on painting and social sculpture are based on the concept of the membrane. They are guided by her interest in the phenomenon of the threshold and her curiosity about the realm of the ‘in-between’. In her artistic research, she engages intensively with the mediation of different levels of being, consciousness and cultures. From August 2018 she was on a journey for her artistic research project “Crossing”, travelling to Iceland, Finland, Egypt, Lebanon and South Africa. In her current project CROSSING PEACE she collaborates with international artists to promote peace. Her works have been shown at the Off Biennale in Cairo and the Dakar Biennale in Senegal, amongst others. She is involved in the WHITE FLAG ART PROJECT and is initiator and founder of the new interdisciplinary project space CROSSING, which has been based in Essen since 2024.
