Spatial Boundaries continues the exploration of the Spatial Reality series, delving into the existential relationship between humans and extreme spaces. This work is situated in the desert, where the intense temperature fluctuations and the majestic landscape of the dunes form the core elements of the piece. It is composed of desert plants, time, sand, mist, people, mirror reflective panels, and extreme temperature differences, interwoven together. Through a simple mirror-reflective straight line, the piece extends from the top of the dunes, connecting infinite space with the boundaries perceived by humans.
In the desert, the intense sunlight contrasts sharply with the cold nights. During this process, the temporarily installed mirror-reflective line installation disturbs the originally calm dune landscape, allowing the light to interact with the vastness of the desert, breaking the inherent boundaries. The wild wind moves the mirror-reflective lines, making them appear and disappear across the dunes, like an illusion in the desert, symbolizing humanity's perception of space and infinite possibilities.
The creation process of the work was also full of challenges, from the varying heights of the dunes to the perception of space in the desert, constantly exploring the changing climate and the body. Just as Spatial Reality explored cold spaces, this piece also took environmental changes into consideration, combining the extreme temperature differences of the desert, the shifting light, and human perception, further enhancing the sense of boundless space.
Spatial Boundaries is not just a creation of a reflective straight line, but a profound interpretation of human existence in extreme environments. The vastness and infinity of the desert, intertwined with human perception and the spatial boundaries they inhabit, ultimately create a realm where imagination and reality, space and time coexist.
