Synesthesia is a perceptual phenomenon (a phenomenon in which one sensory or cognitive nerve is stimulated actively but not spontaneously to induce another sensory or cognitive nerve to be stimulated). Taking one example, when listening to a cheerful tune, we think of the stream in spring. Taking another example, in the " Lotus Pond Moonlight " written by Zhu Ziqing, mentioned :" when the breeze passed, it sent a wisp of fragrance, which is just like the distant tower on the dim song.", all of which are synaesthesia. What synesthesia involves include many types of phenomena, and I chose the phenomenon of sound-color conversion, making it visualized and elemental. Finally, the "Synesthesia Experiment" series was created to record and share my synesthesia feelings.
In this project, I made my personal synesthetic perception of tone into a color-recognizing Synethetic Code Scanner APP by writhing code that matched different tones with different colors. This Synethetic Code Scanner APP can scan the color of anything in daily life through its camera and convert these colors back into “the sound of color”, completing an transition experiment between sound and color.
I put this Synethetic Code Scanner APP in the supermarket, so that the customers can use it to hear the sound of goods on the shelves. After collecting a large number of commodity sounds, I rearranged them according to the rules of the orchestration to make a “Music Score of Goods”, which I would like to call a minor mode on consumerism.
