The central idea in my work is transformation. Regardless of the subject, I explore different ways of combining my own images—paintings and photographs from my archive—to generate new ones.
This metamorphosis unfolds through a process of layering, using a deliberately simple software tool, in a controlled gesture that nonetheless invites the unexpected. Like a palimpsest, the layers may merge, dissolve, or disappear.
Each hybrid image can bring together four to more than twelve paintings and photographs. The process comes to an end when the emerging image reveals a certain ambiguity—an indeterminate space where digital and physical realities intersect.
