Opuntia translates the prickly pear of Apulia into a tactile landscape of ripening, where organic forms and shifting tones of yellow, violet, and soft orange evoke a sense of transformation. The surface is central to the work: dots emerge as sculptural spheres or are carved directly into the dense pile. This contrast between low-lying areas and a pile height of up to 4 cm creates a subtle relief that invites touch. Much like the prickly pear once planted along the borders of Southern Italy, the piece carries a quiet sense of protection and boundary—a soft presence that invites closeness, yet maintains a subtle resistance.
