Alento - Wings of Breath is a pitcher whose name derives from an area in Abruzzo, Italy. Alento is not a natural clay only. The word Alento means from Portuguese "Breath". So, for my piece of functional art, I coined Ali d'Alento_Wings of Breath! The jug is heart-shaped and the wings symbolize the flight of the positive words that I have imprinted so to become a vehicle for improving our well-being by drinking the water it contains. Ali di respiro is a hymn to positivity and embodies many meanings: the wings inspire flight towards our freedom, its heart shape immediately conveys love&empathy, and the words imprinted in the clay transmit power to the water or other liquid contained within, as Masaru Emoto taught. In this creative process, I first filtered the clay I was collecting in Alento during an exploration journey to Abruzzo. Then I waited until the clay was malleable and then, shaping it into the heart shape for the jug, I imprinted the positive words. For ease of handling, I smoothed the handles ergonomically. Separately, I also molded the wings, and for both pieces, I made plaster molds for successive serie from this prototype! Have all a marvellous life!
