Paola Zaltron -biography
Paola is an Italian self-taught artist who began painting at a very young age, complementing her independent practice by studying alongside local painters and exploring a wide range of artistic techniques.
A significant influence on her development was Professor Bruno Degasperi, who encouraged her ongoing research and experimentation.
Painting has become the central focus of her artistic life. Through a continuous process of exploration, she seeks to translate memories, emotions, and inner perceptions into visual form.
Her work has often been described by curators and art critics as "a vision that brings together subtle abstraction and the perception of elements drawn from reality." Colour and expressive gesture are the defining elements of her visual language.
She works primarily with oil and acrylic painting, while also developing projects in intaglio printmaking.
In 2009, she co-founded the artists' collective L'aereoplanino ad elastico in Rovereto and ARTBOX Studio/Atelier, now based in Mori (Trentino), where she maintains her studio practice and leads creative workshops for children and adults. She is also a member of the Amici dell'Arte Association in Riva del Garda.
Paola has exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions throughout Italy, valuing collaboration and artistic exchange as an essential part of her practice. Her recent solo exhibitions include Nature Loves to Hide (Rovereto, 2023) and A Breath of Wind (Riva del Garda, 2024). Her recent awards include the Giovanni Segantini First Prize (Arco, 2021) and the Golden Brush Award (Pennello d'Oro) in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
