Rudy Weller, born in London in 1956, comes from a family of educators, with both parents serving as head teachers. His artistic journey began in 1974 with a year-long foundation course in art at Hammersmith Art College. He then pursued a three-year diploma course in mural design, graduating with distinction in 1975. Rudy further honed his skills with a two-year postgraduate program in glass and ceramics at Chelsea College of Art, completing it in 1978.
In 1982, Rudy founded Arts Incorporated, a design company that undertook significant projects, including the complete design and refurbishment of the Balcony Restaurant at the Royal Albert Hall. His notable sculptural works include "The Horses of Helios" and "The Three Graces" statues, which were unveiled in Piccadilly Circus, London, in 1992. Additionally, he created a bronze bust of King Charles (then Prince of Wales) for the Royal College of General Practitioners in 1994.
By 1995, Rudy had expanded his ventures as the owner and director of Cross Keys, a bar and restaurant in Chelsea, London. There, he established an art gallery dedicated to supporting emerging artists, offering exhibition space free of charge. His philanthropy extended to donating a bronze statue of a boxer dog named ‘Ben’ to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, where it is proudly displayed at the entrance.
Throughout his life, Rudy has curated a personal collection of original artwork across various mediums, including paintings and sculptures. His work consistently reflects a deep concern for humanity's treatment of animals and the natural world.
