Yana
Vasilyeva (b. 1986 Krasnodar, Russia) is a contemporary artist working with photography,
installation and sculpture; currently lives and works in Krasnodar. In her
artistic practice, Yana relies on visual codes and symbolism often portraying
interaction of human and nature, and their mutual penetration; the coexistence of
self-expression and equality; explores the influence of information flows,
creates personal mythology and utopias. Author of three self-published photo
books and a proponent of self-organized initiatives.
She is a
recipient and finalist of numerous international photo awards: International
Photography Awards, USA; Prix de la Photographie Paris, France; Fine Art
Photography Awards and Julia Margaret Cameron Award for women photographers,
UK; GoSee Awards, Germany, etc. Her
projects have been exhibited internationally in biennales and festivals such as
