Herold van den Berg was born in Breda and after living for many years in London and Amsterdam, he settled in the artists' village of Laren NH in 2003. From an early age, Herold was busy with creative expressions and was very interested in various art forms such as print, haut-couture and especially the story and message behind it. He used to want to become a fashion designer, but the pressure to study and color within the lines was great, but his passion remained latent.
A seemingly mundane event changed his life in 2015 at the age of 48. A missing cat from an 'unknown' neighbor brought an artist into his life. The ⭕️ was round. His first sculpture at the Gooische Academy for Modern Arts aroused suspicion (is this your first sculpture ever?) but also a lot of interest. His drive, energy and commercial approach ensured rapid growth. His works are now sold through international galleries all over the world, Herold has created works of art for several private art collectors and he has designed the 'Monument for Tolerance' that stands in a prominent place in Laren NH.
Herold makes art with a story, inspired by social developments and challenges and tries to bring about change through his artworks: confrontation, awareness and reflection. It's about the story behind the artwork.
