The Uklukk collective was created in 2015 by Angèle Manuali, performance artist performer, video artist and yoga teacher and Mathis Berchery, performance artist, writer and yoga teacher. Together we create performances and installations installations where writing, testimony, document and physical experiences physical experiences. Sharing an attraction for minority cultures cultures, anthropology, oral narratives, the historical historical and philosophical constitution of knowledge, we are interested in the ways in which living beings interact and communicate with each other, human or not. Through our devices, we explore the impact fictions and speculations can have on individual and collective bodies and and collective memories.
Our common works have been shown and hosted for residencies in multiple French institutions and art centers : La Criée CAC in Rennes (2022) ; Social Sciences and Humanities Department of the University of Valenciennes (2022-2023) ; Buropolis, Marseille (2020) ; la Maison Internationale de Rennes (2018) and the Ulpien Institute (2019) ; Provence Art Contemporain Festival in Vitrolles (2022). And it has also been shown internationnaly : in Germany at Kunstverein Haus 8 of Kiel, with the support of OFAJ, Drac Bretagne, Paris 8 University and the Ocean Summit ; in Italy at CROSS Project in Ameno (Piemonte), with the support of the French Institute in Italy, the Goethe Institute and the French Embassy in Italy.
In 2023, we will be in South-East Asia to continue our project L'eau d'ici in Vietnam, Sulawesi and Singapour, with the support of National Fine Art Center (Cnap), Sao La collective in Dalat and Au Bout du Plongeoir Art Center.
On another hand, Uklukk organize contextual events in unusual places like hairdressers, second hand shops, café, in which performance and poetry are shared with customers and unexpected spectators, to transform uses of the sites but also situational artistic pratices. These events contribute to a podcast project called Radio Uklukk, an transdisciplinary research around the head question : How to make society ? Those projects have received the support of the Artists Foundation and some private sponsors.
