Alana Tashjian, born in Chicago, IL, graduated in 2011 from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, with a major in Fine Arts and a minor in Art History. Her work has been shown in exhibitions across the U.S. including the House of Blues Boston and the Boston State Transportation Building, and is in collections in the Boston Public Library and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
She has been working as an art teacher since 2011, including 4 years working with students with severe special needs. She also served for 1 year as a co-curator at the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art in Yerevan, Armenia. In April 2015, she curated the international exhibition "Bridge of Art: The Creative World of Autism and Art,” featuring the work of many of her past and present students. The exhibition showcased the role that art therapy can play within the world of autism spectrum disorders and helped to raise autism awareness in Armenia.
Her path since then has brought her to many different corners of the world, seeking inspiration from many places, including living and working in India, Armenia, China, Costa Rica, and now Brazil. Alana is now presently wandering the Earth, learning, teaching, & creating, and slowly pursuing her dreams of opening a permaculture-based artist retreat center somewhere on our beautiful Earth.
