Tetyana Soboleva (Tatsi is her artistic name) is a figurative painter whose work combines classical painting techniques with decorative and atmospheric elements. Working primarily in oil, she explores themes of memory, femininity, silence, and emotional presence through portraits, interiors, and still life compositions.
Her practice is deeply influenced by traditional European painting while incorporating a contemporary sensitivity to color, ornament, and psychological mood. Rich textiles, flowers, symbolic objects, and carefully constructed light play an essential role in her visual language, creating spaces that exist between observation and imagination.
Soboleva’s work is rooted in careful craftsmanship and a strong appreciation for historical painting methods. At the same time, she seeks to transform everyday scenes into emotionally charged and contemplative experiences. Through layered surfaces, nuanced color relationships, and intimate compositions, she aims to create paintings that invite stillness and prolonged viewing.
She has been awarded Best Traditional Work for her figurative painting practice. She currently lives and works in Australia.
