Pavel Sipkin "PAVS" (b. 1988)
Pavel Sipkin, known as PAVS, is a Russian-born architect and conceptual artist working between Asti, Italy, and Tokyo, Japan. After living and working in Tokyo for more than a decade, he continues his architectural practice at Kengo Kuma & Associates while running an art studio in Asti, Italy.
His artistic practice explores the dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures through the lens of architecture, metaphysics, nostalgia, and everyday urban life. Drawing from both Japanese and European visual traditions, Sipkin's work combines Japanese notions of flat impermanence and subtlety with Western boldness, color, and perspective. Through acrylic painting and mixed media, he examines cultural exchange, urban memory, and the evolving relationship between contemporary city life and imagination.
