What do I talk about through my work? Oftentimes artists choose one theme to explore through their work and remain committed to it for many years, but I don't have that theme. I never know what my next painting or drawing will be about - whether it will touch on some important social issues or whether it will be just a still life with fruits. Will the work be about the difficult aspects of religion, the life of women in Central Asia, about finding oneself, about politics, or will it be just a landscape with a sunset. Both complex and simple are equally part of our life.
I see value in sincerity. I see the value in doing what I love and know how to do: express my feelings and thoughts, and they are about very different things, both simple and complex, beautiful and ugly.
I think that unpredictability is one of the important features of my work. Sometimes I refuse external beauty and technically “correct” performance in favor of meaning and concept, sometimes I combine both the first and second, and sometimes the other way around - I do something very simple, understandable and enjoyable for most people. I'm always on the lookout for something new and I think it's forever.
