SERRANO BOU , born in 1952 in Blanes (Girona), has a long professional career as a social and visual artist. During the eighties he lived in New York City. His stays in Asia and Latin America were a great experience that enriched his great artistic versatility and his innovative instinct as a creator.
Serrano Bou's artistic work includes different techniques: paintings, sculptures, metal oxidation, collages, pieces with social content, some of them made with paint and recycled materials, especially plastic; installations and social art performances, among other expressions. Research with new materials and techniques has led to the creation of new collections where he has developed a very personal iconography, which characterizes him as a creator. In this sense, the detailed technique of small dots on large-format canvas, with fluorescent light effect, stands out, which was seen, for example, in Italy (2010), also the inauguration of the Tower O-14 building in Dubai, his participation in the ArtDubai 2011 fair, or the collections: Els Capritxos de Goya; Serrano Bou Home; Ses Roques de Cadaqués; El Joc de Pilota; Els ulls; L'Auca del Cava, among others.
In addition to Serrano Bou's exhibitions and shows in Catalonia and Spain such as, for example, the International Music Festival off Sonar (Barcelona), Temps de flors (Girona) and Museu d'Art de Girona, etc. his work has been exhibited internationally, both in groups and solo, in places such as Germany (1986), Fundació Espais d'Art Contemporani (1987), New York City (1991), Monaco (2004, 2006 and 2015), Mexico (2005), Miami Basel (2005), Italy (2010), Dubai (2011), among others. Serrano Bou's work is also part of private and institutional collections such as, for example, Goldmann Properties in Miami, Prudencial Basche Security in New York City, Museu Contemporani de Girona, Museu d'Art de Girona, CEDAN-Fundación de Arte Beulas (Huesca), Fundació Ernest Ventós in Barcelona, Fundació Lluis Coromina in Banyoles, among others.
Serrano Bou was one of the founders and artistic director of the Fundació Àngel Planells de Blanes, with a continuous annual program of exhibitions by Catalan and international artists. Founding member of the Group Public Projects, of social art. And founding member of the group Jus d’Art.For his contribution to art and culture, Serrano Bou has been awarded the Paul Harris medal by the Rotary Club International.
