My name is Gabriel Santana and I am an artist located in Belo Horizonte that was born in 1995, one year after the actual currency of the country was created and the life was getting better. I grew up in a Brazil that became one big player in the world, the progress was coming fast and yet the inequality keep raging. In that context I graduated in Cinema and Animation, but got really involved with photography in the Fine Art School. In that medium I found my way to convey my thoughts and defy the mundane around. Each of my works are projects in which I create many images around a concept and they have their inner logic and way to be set in expositions.
My projects often play with notion of the artist being totally in control of your work. Some of them are made by randomly drew directions and orders for me to follow or it provides the viewers just pieces of meaning for they create their own logic and purpose for the art itself. That some sort of lack of control is my way to deal with the messy and wild world I live in, where we just try to connect the flood of information and make sense.
Another strong motif in my projects it is reality and credibility of a photography in a digital era. Some works question with surreal and deliberately fake images and stories the possibility of that being true and the reality itself. Where are the boundaries of people's belief in a image, it's a sentence that keep coming back for me and that allows me to dare some declared truths and test the imagination of my public.
All that traits makes me say I play with the logic of the world.
