Kerrie O'Leary's work explores replicating the movement of nature using technology. Combining computational methods with mathematical algorithms she turns datasets into tangible artefacts. She grew up in Howth, a coastal village in Dublin and it is evident that these seaside surroundings have significant influence on her work.
She received her undergraduate degree in Management Science in 2015 and moved to New York. Here she worked as a Gallery Associate and taught sailing out on Shelter Island. Kerrie is now based in London and has recently completed an MFA in Computational Art.
The concept of the sublime and climate change have been a focus for the artist. Merging her curiosity for systems and data with her love for the sea, the artist’s work focuses on manipulating complex data sets into simple visualisations. Her process involves prototyping and scaling iteratively to create immersive installations that uncover previously unseen connections and patterns.
