Focusing on the inherent transformations unique to life, Megumi Naito creates works centered on forms and spaces that mimic these vital movements.
After repeatedly witnessing both life and death within a short period, she gained a new perspective: seeing all of life's activities as a continuous part of nature's cycle. She explores her artistic expression with the aim of creating spaces where one can sense the harmony and equilibrium with nature inherent in the subtle workings of life.
In her recently exhibited "resp." series—derived from words such as "respiration," "response," and "respectively"—she explores the responsive relationships that emerge between life and its environment.
Graduating from Musashino Art University in 2014 with a degree in Scenography from the Department of Scenography, Display and Fashion Design, she subsequently studied production design and worked as an art director for visual media. Triggered by her shifting perspective on life and death, she transitioned into creating her own original artworks.
