My name is Arpenik and I’m a figurative ornamental artist who expresses herself through drawing and painting. My art is a rich blend of ornamental details, fantastical landscapes, nature and fairy tale characters — a reflection of my imagination and the world I carry within me.
I come from an artistic family — my dad is a painter and my mom is an art historian and scholar — so art has been a part of my life from the very beginning. Growing up surrounded by their knowledge and creativity profoundly influenced me and encouraged me to find my own artistic voice.
My creative process is quite spontaneous. I usually start with a small sketch to map out where the main elements — a character, a paysage — will go, and then I let the ornamentation flow naturally. I decide on the spot what patterns, details, or motifs to add, letting my imagination guide me.
I studied fashion design in Paris, and that background profoundly influenced my artistic style — you can see it in my love for texture, pattern, rich details, and careful composition. I work with pen, paper, watercolor, acrylic, and sometimes fabric, choosing whatever medium best expresses the feeling I want to convey.
Some of my greatest inspirations come from artists like Gustav Klimt and Hieronymus Bosch. I love how their work invites you to explore hidden stories and details. My art predominantly starts from a feeling I carry within me and evolves into a drawing — a way to make visible my inner world.
The message I want to convey through my art is that we all carry wonderful, creative worlds within us; we just need to look for them and appreciate their rich details.
I was born in Armenia, grew up in France, lived in Cyprus for 5 years, and now I’m back in Armenia. My background has profoundly influenced me — it’s taught me adaptability, curiosity about different cultures, and, above all, how to learn to feel at home wherever I am. Each place has left its mark on me, adding a unique thread to the rich tapestry of my imagination.
