John Moran is a politically and socially engaged hot glass sculptor, mixed media artist, studio co-founder and operator at Gent Glas, and all around nice guy. Known in several different countries for his astounding artwork, biting wit and charming personality. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Tyler School of Art in 2006, he spent several years working in the Philadelphia area, around the United States, and China. Since then, he has traversed the globe in search of knowledge, and employment. In 2009, John was awarded a Creative Glass Center of America Fellowship at Wheaton Arts. In 2010, he moved a car full of his worldly possessions west, where after three long and grueling years, he attained his MFA from Illinois State University. In 2013, he crossed the ocean to begin his new life in Gent, Belgium, where he co-founded Gent Glas, a public access studio for the professional glass community. His work reflects his interest in politics, philosophy, religion, and human social behavior meshed with his sense of humor and a touch of altruism. Over the past few years, he has exhibited in many prestigious galleries and museums across the United States and Europe.
