miaoz is a public and nature artist who graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York. In recent years, he has worked with multiple mediums, including video, sound/music, performance, installation, and more. He has been active internationally in exhibitions, art festivals, and artist residency projects.
miaoz had the experience of studying and working in New York from 2011 to 2017. During his stay in the US, he participated in numerous exhibitions, such as Hatched: New Ventures in Entrepreneurial Design, SVA Chelsea Gallery in 2013; Annual Contemporary Art Survey at Fort Collins Lincoln Center in 2016; Anonymous Others at Elizabeth Foundation for The Arts in 2017; Vulnerable and Decaying at Gallery Sensei of New York in 2017, and Governors Island Art Festival in 2017. After returning to China, miaoz continued his artistic exploration and shifted his creative domain toward Nature Arts. He carried out his projects in several art residencies, including PLAN8 The Invisible Sound Exhibition and Artist Residency in Danba (Tibetan area) in 2021; Sugar House Art Residency in Yangshuo in 2021; and The 9th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture in 2022. miaoz’s works have also been featured in publications like Playing with Graphic Style by Steven Heller and Grafik magazine #193.
miaoz's inspiration comes from nature, and he portrays ever-changing perspectives through his works. He believes that art should be free to grow, much like plants, and artists should aim to create new possibilities instead of copying what already exists. He hopes his work will help rekindle people's sensitivity to nature and inspire them to explore the wild and indigenous originality. miaoz encourages the audience to venture beyond urban areas and play with the boundaries between different dimensions.
