Éléonore Merdrignac is a French self-taught artist living and working in Paris, France. Her practice focuses on painting and drawing, exploring embodied emotional states shaped by contemporary life. Through layered gestures, fragmented forms and intuitive processes, she develops a pictorial universe she calls la démonstrie, where figures emerge as unstable and transformative presences rather than fixed characters or symbols.

Her paintings draw on a personal mythology built from fragments of art history — baroque compositions, classical postures, allegorical bodies — which she absorbs and dissolves rather than quotes. Stripped of their original narratives, these borrowed figures resurface as ambiguous presences: neither gods nor characters, but residues of image-memory caught mid-transformation. This is where la démonstrie takes shape — not as a style, but as a process of dismantling and reconstructing inherited forms.
