Claudia Meitert (born 1978 in Bad Kötzting, Germany) lives and works in Regensburg.
Claudia Meitert's work lies at the intersection of painting, drawing, and sculpture, developing a distinctive visual language characterized by formal precision and conceptual depth. Her pieces explore questions of perception, space, and density, moving between figuration and abstraction.
After studying communication design at the Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences and a formative residency at the Facultad de Bellas Artes in Salamanca, she initially worked in advertising agencies before developing a consistently independent artistic practice. This multifaceted experience is reflected in the structural clarity and narrative tension of her work.
Since 2012, Meitert has worked as a freelance artist. Her works have been presented in numerous institutional and independent exhibitions and are represented in private and public collections throughout Europe.
A key point of reference is her studies in painting and drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts Kolbermoor (2023–2026) as a master student of Markus Lüpertz, whose influence is evident in her painterly rigor and masterful handling of tradition and contemporary art.
In 2024, Meitert was a finalist for the Arte Laguna Prize, Venice. She had already received a grant from the Oswald Zitzelsberger Art and Culture Foundation in 2014/15.
In addition to her artistic practice, she has been a visiting lecturer at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology since 2024.
Meitert is a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK), the New Art Association Regensburg, and the artists' group NUBIS.
